Guy is the only male artist and only Aussie artist to have had four songs in the top 100 airplay charts for 2020, sharing that statistic with Dua Lipa. While hosting the 2019 ARIA Awards ceremony, Sebastian also collected two trophies thanks to ‘Choir’ (Best Video and the prestigious Song Of The Year accolade). Following the announcement of ‘Choir’ as Song Of The Year, Sebastian performed his winning song – accompanied by the 30-member Mount Druitt Choir – to close out the 2019 ARIA Awards ceremony – what a moment!
Guy’s behind-the-scenes doco ‘Guy Sebastian – The Man The Music’ (initially released in June, 2020) intersperses footage from his extensive, sold-out national ‘Ridin’ With You’ tour with interviews and candid footage documenting some of his career highlights. During this documentary, Guy’s commitment to, and love for, his family – wife Jules, and sons Hudson and Archer – shines through.
Guy and Jules established The Sebastian Foundation in 2013 to collaborate with charities and organisations with a view to “providing a little bit of the warmth and benefit of family” where it might be missing through underprivilege, serious illness or domestic violence. This Foundation has a goal to support 10,000 kids through an in-school mental health program, which has been designed to promote acceptance and address everyday issues before they become problematic. The Sebastian Foundation’s world class annual Carols From Parramatta fundraiser event features some of the country’s top vocalists and musicians and was streamed online in 2020, supported by Disney+.
In recognition of his “significant service to the music industry and charitable initiatives”, Sebastian was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours. Throughout his career, Sebastian has performed for Queen Elizabeth II, Pope Benedict XVI and Oprah Winfrey. In 2022 Guy embarked on a 2022 sold out record breaking national T.R.U.T.H. Arena Tour, selling out 23 arena shows to recording breaking venue capacity in Sydney & Melbourne and selling over 120,000 tickets Nationwide. He closed off 2022 with a 26 sold out date regional run throughout regional Australia.
As one of Australia’s most successful singer/songwriter/producers, Sebastian’s unwavering passion for music translates into consistently authentic, memorable performances. The golden thread that runs through each Guy Sebastian song is his ability to manifest very specific emotional moments using that God-given musical instrument: his voice. “As long as I’ve got a voice and as long as I’ve got songs to write, I’m gonna keep doing it,” Guy promises. “For me, music is about purpose.
